Research Project on Tourism Partnerships

A research project on Tourism Partnerships was launched on 15 December 2009 in Arusha. It is being conducted by Laura Tarimo (Junior Researcher) and Diederik de Boer.

On 3 June 2010 a Round Table on Responsible Tourism Partnerships was held in Arusha, Tanzania. The Round Table brought together stakeholders from central and local government, private sector companies, community representatives and NGO's working in the tourism sector to discuss current local and global trends in Responsible Tourism and to gather inputs for the implementation of a Responsible Tourism Association in Tanzania.

Achievements

Targets

The coming weeks on the following will be focused:

  1. A visit to a hunting concession in Longido District, and interviews with the vil-age leadership and members in villages within or bordering the concession.
  2. Interviews/questionnaires with Elerai village members to get their perspective on the benefits of the partnerships in their village.
  3. Visits, interviews and questionnaires with key actors in partnerships within Babati District (Tarangire National Park).
