Waste Management in Serengeti Ecosystem

The study will be executed in 2010/2011 by Arda Riedijk.

The Serengeti Ecosystem Community Conservation Forum (SECCF) requested Round Table Africa to develop a waste management policy for the Serengeti ecosystem. SECCF brings key stakeholders together over a range of issues to ensure the integrity of the Serengeti ecosystem. They have expressed the need to assess the current waste situation within the Serengeti ecosystem and to determine the options and feasibility for dealing with this waste in a constructive and environmentally friendly manner. One clear objective of the assessment is to provide benefits to local communities and businesses. If  the approach suggested by Round Table Africa is successful, the waste management policy should result in a clear and visible positive impact on the Serengeti and the responsible tourism brand in Tanzania, tackling a real and common problem.
