Mission to Nairobi on 24-25 February 2010

Diederik de Boer (Director of the RTA Program) and Laura Tarimo had a mission to Nairobi (Kenya) on 24-25 February 2010. They visited Eco-tourism Kenya and held an interview with an Eco-rating officer on tourism partnerships in Kenya for comparative purposes with cases in Tanzania. They also visited Porini Mara Camp and Basecamp Kenya where interviews were held with representatives from the lodges on their partnership with villages. Interviews were also held with village members from two separate villages on the effect of tourism partnerships on their quality of life.
They also visited the farms within the project 'Potatoes in Kenya' conducted by the DBA student Joseph Gichuru Wang'ombe. The farms are located near Lake Naivasha. They met with an entrepreneur and investor in potato processing in Nairobi.
